Meet the Staff! Greg, (Msbeckysboys)!

Throughout life, we have the opportunity to meet some very inspiring people.  Personally, I have met more this past year through the RC hobby (both racing and flying), than ever thought possible!  Racers and flyers alike, something about the RC hobby itself, brings about the best company…  One of these days, I just may figure out how, but in the meantime, I would like to introduce everyone to Greg (msbeckysboys), a man behind the scenes of Team Terribles, who has risen to the challenge of building and implementing the Ubercart (e-commerce) portion of the website.

Something everyone should know about Greg, is that he is very involved with his family.  He is a regular church-going man who is very thankful for his family and friends.  In my book, he fits the “Good Ole’ Boy” criteria to the letter.

Greg is a custom cabinet and stair builder who retired early to be a stay-at-home dad for his sons.  One of his sons, Josh, was born with a defective heart and has endured extensive surgeries.  Today, the least of Josh’s problems is that he doesn’t have an immune system.

Greg sent this information that I would like to share with other members:

“Josh was six when we started bringing the cars with us to the hospital. Some of the children in the hospital stay there long term (months) and it gets boring for them quickly. While he was there a couple summers ago, I made a run to a local hobby shop and picked up two Losi Micro T’s.  One for him and the other for his younger brother, Eli. It soon became popular with another little boy that was also in the hospital for an extended stay. That’s when I went and bought the micro dessert truck for me. And yep, we had a blast and time passed better for Josh’s new buddy and himself!

Josh and his brother Eli, both love all types of racing, from the 1/4 midgets to the NASCAR Cup Cars.  If it happened in Atlanta, we took the boys to it. That’s when the problem began with his inability to participate in any sporting events, attend or ever be able to be a race car driver.  His medical condition side lines him from being directly involved with full-scale racing.  That’s when we focused on RC racing, since it is safe and he can be isolated while still be part of a bigger picture.

Unfortunately, the onroad nitro racing here in GA has been on the decline for many years. With the closing of Fernando’s “Toys for Boys” in Kennesaw and the Sugar Bowl in Buford GA, it has hurt local onroad racing .We are, however, able to attend club racing at the old Sugar Bowl track.  With the amount of money and time we put into these onroad cars; parking lot racing is out of the question. We call the parking lots “cheese graters”, one run and your chassis is junk.

While looking for local on road alternatives, I stumbled upon James Allara and what he was trying to do with the Team. He welcomed my son and the team members made the little guy feel special. In return for James and the Team giving him something he had not experienced as a child yet, I devoted a large part of my time to help develop the website. It seemed the more I put back into the team, the more I was rewarded as I quickly moved up in the Team.”

Even though the Team Terribles web-store is online, Greg is still active in working with other staff members fine-tuning and adding content.

Greg would like to thank James Allara for the opportunity for his sons to be part of the Team.  He would also like to give a huge shout out to Irving Carrion for providing the Drupal Ubercart training resources and a personal thanks to Neal at Clockwork Racing Engines.

Stay tuned for upcoming articles and interviews about the staff and sponsors of Team Terribles.  Thanks for reading!  Aaron Bullock, CCE, TT.
